Earliest Memories

I was born in 1958 just as modern popular guitar based music was forming.Elvis Presley with "Jailhouse Rock", Jerry Lee Lewis with "Great Balls of Fire", and the Everly Bros with "All you have to do is Dream" had just recorded markers of sounds and songs which were going to dominate the charts for the next half a century, and in retrospect i was born at a great time to appreciate the halcyon days of popular music.

My first memories are when I was living in America, the Mamas and the Papas "California Dreamin" and "Monday, Monday", Fifth Dimension "Up, Up and Away" and Petula Clark and "Dont Sleep in the Subway" / "Downtown". Slick, musical, catchy songs that were going to interest a 7 -9 yer old.

Returning to England in 1968 was to return to a popular music maelstrom.
